Jolie behind iron curtain at 'Salt' preem
Sony's "Salt" premiere offered a taste of a pre-glasnost Soviet Union on Monday. Requests to interview Angelina Jolie, who plays Russian superspy Evelyn Salt, were met with a firm nyet.
But after the screening at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, the vodka, champagne and caviar flowed in Hollywood & Highland's grand ballroom, as in any good Eastern Bloc party.
At the post-preem fete, Jolie (surrounded by a phalanx of bodyguards) kept the mingling to a minimum, and she and partner Brad Pitt left through the kitchen in a stealthy exit that would have made Salt proud.
Even Sony topper Amy Pascal remained behind an iron curtain.
But revelers, including Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ryan Kavanaugh, kept the spirits up and some guests, like Columbia prexy Matt Tolmach, got loose enough to blow their cover.
"I'm actually a sleeper agent for another studio," Tolmach quipped. "I'll be revealing the studio I really report to later in the evening."
