Alexander Skarsgard goes 'East' with Brit Marling
“True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgard is in talks to star in “The East,” a new eco-thriller from “Sound of My Voice” duo Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij.
Marling, who starred in, wrote and produced “Sound of My Voice,” will also co-star in “The East,” which is based on her original script. Batmanglij, who helmed “Voice,” will direct.
Pic centers on a terrorist group that targets unethical corporations. Skarsgard would play the leader of the eco-terrorist gang, while Marling is set to play an FBI agent trying to infiltrate the group.

Skarsgard, who broke onto the scene playing the seductive vampire Eric Northman in HBO’s “True Blood,” has made a bigscreen splash as of late. The 34 year-old Swedish thesp is starring in Universal’s “Battleship,” a remake of “Straw Dogs” and Lars Von Trier’s “Melancholia.” Skarsgard is also attached to an untitled Viking project at Warner Bros.
