Watch the ‘Flowers of War’ trailer starring Christian Bale
The first trailer for Zhang Yimou’s “Flowers of War” has hit the Web, quipped with subtitles and a hail of bullets.
Christian Bale stars in the Chinese war drama, which deals with the Rape of Nanking, the massacre that followed the invasion of China's wartime capital, now called Nanjing, on Dec. 13, 1937.
The initial footage bears a near uncanny resemblance to the Ramelle battle scenes in "Saving Private Ryan," with plenty of blood and guts to match.
The country’s most expensive movie to date ($93 million), "Flowers" still doesn’t have a distributor in the US but will open December 16 in China.
"Flower of War" was recently submitted as China's official Oscar entry for the 84th annual Academy Awards.
