Hugh Jackman took to Twitter yesterday to post the first official photo of him as the escaped French convict Jean Valjean in Universal's upcoming adaptation of "Les Miserables."
Directed by "The King's Speech" helmer Tom Hooper, Les Miz also stars Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.
Pic, based on the popular musical from French composer Alan Boubil, arrives in theaters December 14, 2012.
Viva la Revolucion!
David Cronenberg is back with another brooding (and sexual) character, this time in the shape of Robert Pattinson. "Cosmopolis," based on Don DeLillo's popular novel, follows a 28-year-old multimillionaire on a 24-hour odyssey across Manhattan. While no U.S. release date has been announced, "Cosmopolis" is expected to premiere in May at the Cannes Film Festival.
Watch the International Teaser:
Michael Bay is not out to destroy your childhood memories, this according to a new thread from the big-budget filmmaker.
After word broke of another “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie, produced by Bay, the guy who voiced Michaelangelo (a.k.a. the ‘Party Dude’) in the TMNT movies took to Facebook and slammed the filmmaker for “sodomizing” the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand and causing “the rape of our childhood memories.” (Bodacious imagery, dude!)
Bay, who was also behind the massive adaption of popular 80s toys, “The Transformers,” has gone on the defensive, telling fans of the hit 90s toy brand to relax.
In a new forum thread on his blog, Bay writes:
Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.
The TMNT movie, set up at Paramount, is set for a 2013 release.
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton reunite for the eighth time in Warner Bros.' bigscreen adaptation of "Dark Shadows." Based on the cult 1960s television series, "Dark Shadows" centers on a vampire named Barnabas Collins who finds himself living with a family in the early 70s. Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz and Eva Green co-star. GK Films produced the pic, which is due May 21, 2013.
Ellen DeGeneres premiered the trailer on her daytime talk-show.
LOS ANGELES -- “The Hunger Games” preem at L.A. Live on Monday brought a feeling of deja vu to producer Nina Jacobson .
“This level of excitement and anticipation take me back to the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ premieres when I was at Disney,” she said. “I barely believe it. And it’s astonishing that we’re here three years after we started.”
Josh Hutcherson was in energetic form during the Lionsgate pre-screening festivities — eliciting a big laugh moments before the screening started by stepping on the train of Jennifer Lawrence ’s gold lame dress as the stars were walking off the stage.
Hutcherson’s been a part of film’s mall tour for a week and was headed out to Berlin, Paris and London to tubthump. “I’m flying to Europe at 8 a.m. tomorrow. Right now, it’s a little bit of a blur.”
Director Gary Ross , flashing his usual grin, offered effusive thanks to the cast and Lawrence — “I thank God for her every day” — and to series author Suzanne Collins .
“She’s out there hiding in her favorite position of anonymity,” he added.

Currently shooting in New Mexico, “The Lone Ranger” is based on the popular television series from the 1950s/60s and will ride into theaters May 31, 2013.
Lionsgate has cut a new teaser for SXSW opener "The Cabin in the Woods." Produced by Joss Whedon and helmed by Drew Goddard ("Cloverfield"), "Cabin" is a tale of five young adults embarking on a weekend of debauchery at an abandoned cabin in the woods. Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins and Fran Kranz star. Pic opens domestically April 13.
