Marion Cotillard, who used to act alongside "Little White Lies" helmer Guillaume Canet, discusses the French thesp's transition into directing at the Variety Studio.

Cotillard stars in "Lies," which tells the story of a group of friends dealing with life and loss at an annual retreat. Pic premiered on Saturday in Toronto.

Canet last directed the 2006 acclaimed thriller "Tell No One."
